Olimpia Gambacorta
To
simply describe Olimpia Gambacorta as an artist who paints animal
portraits, is to belie her remarkable artistry and compassionate
appreciation of the natural world around us, especially it's
non-human inhabitants! Painting, for Olimpia, is as natural as
breathing, for the rest of us.
This
artist's expertise and familiarity with shape and form, nuance of
color, use of mixed-media, oil and pencil and shrewd subject
interpretation, demonstrates a solid, intuitive connection to the
very souls and spirits of the images she captures on canvas.
Her inherent respect for our canine and feline counterparts is
reflected in custom-crafted, hand produced art work, particular to
each subject. The stunning end products capture these life forces in
treasured paintings to last a lifetime.
Olimpia
is a traditional artist who works in a representational style.“Realism
is a challenge that keeps me excited about painting. I work with
transparent glazes, building depth, but often the subject will
influence the approach that I use. There is always a personal
connection when I see something that I want to paint, and it is
usually some aspect of nature."
Olimpia
resides in North White Plains NY with her husband and their two
Shih-Tzu's.
